  • Three Insider Tips on How to Form Successful Wedding Vendor Relationships

As a wedding planner, wedding vendors are your lifeline. They can be the key to your success or contribute to the fall that leads to your failure. Everything you do will be much easier if you have formed strong relationships with high quality wedding vendors. The typical question is, "How is your romantic relationship?" Instead, I'm going to ask you, "How are your wedding vendor relationships? Have you checked them lately?

You may just be starting out in the wedding planning business. In that case, here are some tips on how to choose quality wedding vendors:

    1. Select vendors that have been in business for four years or more. It is important to choose well established vendors in comparison to new start up companies. You will feel an added sense of security doing business with an experienced vendor. Say goodbye to those worries that the vendor will not show up on your bride's wedding day!

    2. Only do business with vendors who have a return policy. You're just starting out as a wedding planner. If the vendor accidentally makes 500 wedding favors in blue instead of purple, you can't afford to pay for them! Vendors who have a return policy usually pride themselves on outstanding products and service. Throwing away 500 cookie favors because they misheard the flavor you requested means no profit. Wedding vendors want to make money just as much as you do. With a return policy in place, both you and the vendor know the expectations. Expect the best from vendors with one of these policies.

    3. Choose vendors with many different color options who can also accompany large orders. There are so many different colors of bridesmaid dresses. For instance, one bridal shop may have ten different shades of pink! It can be difficult to find the right shade of pink bouquets to match the pink bridesmaid dresses your bride chooses. Brides will love wedding vendors with a huge color selection. LeRhee Bouquets can customize bouquets to match any shade of David's Bridal's bridesmaid dresses. This will make your job a whole lot easier!

And remember, once you've formed a great relationship, don't let it die! Ask your vendors to keep you updated on new items so you can offer your brides the very best! Unique items will help set you apart as a wedding planner. Your job is to give your bride a wedding she couldn't pull off on her own!
